WHAT IS EMDR?
EMDR is an evidence based trauma treatment that involves bilateral stimulation (generally eye movements) to reduce the emotion felt towards trauma memories. EMDR can also be used to help process grief and to heal from anxiety.
WHAT IS STAIR?
STAIR is an evidence based, manualized trauma treatment that focuses on learning emotional regulation and interpersonal relationship skills. It can be used as a stand alone treatment, or as a foundation for further trauma processing treatment such as Narrative Therapy or EMDR. It is a skills focused treatment and clients are expected to practice learned skills in between sessions.
CAN I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?
Because I believe a good fit is essential to a therapeutic relationship, I offer new clients a free 15 minute telephone consultation. I will answer any questions you have about my practice and my therapeutic style. We can schedule an appointment during that phone call. If you are a returning client, feel free to send me an email.
WHY DON'T YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
As a therapist committed to providing personalized and client-centered care, I have made the deliberate choice not to accept insurance in my practice. This decision stems from my belief in maintaining the autonomy necessary to offer tailored treatment plans that genuinely address the unique needs of each individual I work with. By opting out of insurance, I aim to avoid the constraints and pressures associated with diagnostic requirements imposed by insurance companies. I believe that true healing and growth arise from a collaborative and authentic therapeutic relationship, rather than being confined by rigid diagnostic criteria or external guidelines. This approach allows me the freedom to prioritize the well-being of my clients above all else, fostering an environment where we can work together to explore and address the complexities of their experiences without the limitations imposed by insurance-driven models of care.
